Daniel Pencer

Improviser, saxophonist, and composer Daniel Pencer works in the acoustic and electronic musical worlds exploring sounds from the incredibly quiet and ethereal to the loud and raw. His research in the quiet areas of the saxophone and ability to blend his distinct sound into many musical situations and genres has led to work in theatre, dance, and film.  Daniel holds a Master’s degree from the New England Conservatory in the Contemporary Improvisation program where he worked closely with Anthony Coleman, Joe Morris, John Mallia, Ran Blake, Ted Reichman, and many other inspiring composers and musicians focusing on the fine line between composition and improvisation.
